Physical and Devised Theatre


Chris is a magician, clown and actor originally from Seattle. He has performed on stage and on television, devised original work with many independent artists, and created and produced his own plays, which he has toured across Canada, the US and Australia.

After receiving his BA in theater from Western Washington University, Chris studied clown and other physical theatre forms at Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre. After 18 years of performing, Chris received his MFA in performance and pedagogy from Cal State Long Beach, where he teaches acting, mask, clown and commedia dell’arte.

Hope Lafferty

Writing and Creativity


Playwright, actor and artistic director of Dresden Collective, Hope moved to Marfa after living in Manhattan in pursuit of quality of life. She’s a published essayist, radio producer and serial podcaster, and her plays have been performed in Texas and on the East Coast.

Fascinated by group process, Hope earned her bachelors in social psychology from Boston College and her clinical masters from the University of Chicago. She teaches playwriting at Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, where she specializes in Zen critique, a process that incorporates kinesthetic writing (ie, pen and paper) with meditation practice.
